To start my story - Some of you may or may not know... In January 2014 I had surgery for Thoracic Outlet Syndrome. After a 12 day stay in the hospital, recovery began. The Dr's had said it would be about a year before I felt "like myself" again. Well a year went by and some things were not better. I continued physical therapy and started pulmonary rehab. The pinch in the back of my shoulder blade was getting worse. My primary Dr said it was time for an MRI. Then she called and said I needed a CT scan. Upon viewing the results, she called and gave me the news: I had a mass below my left clavicle (connecting to the sternum) in the soft tissue and she immediately referred me the Mayo Clinic.

After a week long visit the first week of May 2015 - I heard the word everyone fears: "cancer", more specifically, Epitheloid Hemangioendothelioma - Also known as EHE.  If you google EHE Cancer a description pops up. The disease had metastacized to stage 4 at the time of my Mayo visit., meaning it had spread throughout my body. EHE is an extremely rare type of sarcoma with less than 200 cases diagnosed per year worldwide.   Because it is rare, there is virtually no research base and not a lot of interest by pharmaceutical companies to develop drugs.   It does not respond to standard cancer treatments.   If you would like to read about my journey up until today - you can find me on Caring Bridge.

Fast forward to today - Every day is a new adventure for me and my family.  After several rounds of two different chemotherapies, the EHE has grown and my pain level has become essentially unmanageable. I was in Houston last week and talked with the Dr's. Since chemotherapy has not worked, I will be moving toward a clinical trial. I am currently unable to work so paying large amounts of money for regular travel is a challenge.
Money donated will go to travel costs. For clinical trial treatments I will be flying to Houston every 2-3 weeks beginning on May 10th.

Any donation will be appreciated by me and my family. Please keep our family in your prayers.

The motto of the EHE Facebook Family is "Just Live", and that is what we are trying to do with all of our might.
Thank you! :)
