My name is Scott Rogers, and I need your help.
On May 25, 1998, my life was forever altered when I was involved in an accident with a .12 gauge shotgun. The end result was the amputation of my left leg at the above-knee level, the loss of my career, and an opiate addiction that would last for almost 14 years. I have been clean/opiate-free since August of 2011.
I have recently been approved through the Tennessee Department of Vocational Rehabilitation to receive training so that I can start working again. I am due to start training in Shelbyville, Tn. at the Tennessee College of Applied Technology (fancy name for tech school) to receive training as a truck driver. Additionally, I already have the promise of a job upon my completion of the course, which ends on Dec. 21.
What I am hoping to accomplish through this fundraiser is to generate enough money to support myself apart from my family during the 2 months that I will be in school. As it stands, my monthly income, minus 2 loan payments and life insurance, stands at a mere $461.88. With that, I have to pay an electric bill, auto insurance, phone bill, as well as try to meet the needs/desires of 3 boys under the age of 18, the youngest being 11. So there's just no money left over for me to attempt to fund my educational endeavors.
While the tuition is covered, basic life essentials aren't. Daily meals, lodging, fuel, etc... all are things that I am having to figure out how to cover, and this is literally the only venue that I can think of as a means of accomplishing this.
An earlier campaign generated enough money for me to purchase new clothing, as well as pay for 3 round-trips to TCAT-Shelbyville to attend to necessary issues pertaining to school enrollment. (I still have 2 more trips to make before school starts, and it's a 500 mile trip both ways.)
So, with all of that being said, I am entering this campaign with no expectations. I have set the dollar amount low, and will simply place my hope, faith, and trust in God for the provision.
I thank you for reading this, for your consideration, and for your prayers.
Be blessed, and pass it on.
