Mayor Derek Armstead and 8th Ward Councilwoman Michele Yamakaitis have created "Prayers for the Asekomhe Children" to help the family pay both funeral and medical costs for their 9 year old son, Oshiobugie and their 10 year daughter, Emike.
On May 4th, 2016 Linden Police Officers were called to the Asekomhe home by the mother, who could not wake her children. Both children had been overcome by Carbon Monoxide and Mrs. Asekomhe was disoriented. The children were rushed to the hospital where Oshiobugie, was pronouced deceased and Emike is in critical condition on life-support.
At this time the family is in need of our help to offset the cost of their son's funeral and their daughter's medical bills. We have recently be told that Mrs. Asekomhe is also in Intensive Care as her heart was affected by the Carbon Monoxide along with the stress and anguish of losing a child and another fighting for her life.
Your prayers and any donations you can make are most appreciated. The Linden governing body along with the school community and the residents of the City of Linden will be holding a Candlelight Vigil on May 7th, at 7:30 pm at Dorothy Ford Park (aka St. Mark's Park) on Chandler Ave. off of E. Elizabeth Ave., Linden. All are welcome to come join us in respect for the family and to share your condolences and sympathies.
We are asking all of you to please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers.
Thank you Mayor Derek Armstead & 8th Ward Councilwoman Michele Yamakaitis.
