Hello, I'm Jaden and I'm trying to pay for college. I've been accepted to Southwestern University, one of the best colleges in the country -- but also one of the most
expensive. Southwestern is offering me loads of assistance, but because my family financial situation is
rather dire, that assistance is not enough.
My dad worked for the VA, but after multiple strokes in 2010 he was left legally blind and he is slowly losing his memory. Because of this he had to be put in a helper home since no one else in my family can take care of him and therefore he can't work and my mom is left to try and pay all of the bills. We live in a subsidized housing community so the expenses aren't too high, but my mom, the only source of income, makes under 9K a year; she won't be able to help me at all with college expenses.
I've been working as much as I can, but I'm still $6,000 away from being able to afford college. Southwestern is my absolute dream school, a first rate liberal arts college
in close proximity to my Dad. It's quite honestly a chance out of poverty for me and my family.
I will very much appreciate any help I can get and even for those that don't "fund" me, I appreciate the time you spent reading my story.
