Hello Everyone,
My name is Erika and I'm a 30 year old black trans woman who has recently moved from Los Angeles to Oakland. I'm thrilled to finally be residing in the place I've always considered to be my home away from home. I love the bay area and I am so excited to begin a new chapter in life here in Oakland.. I am currently in need of financial assistance to ensure that I secure housing as well as furnishings for my living space and other expenses. In order to better provide you with a more precise idea of the conditions I moved to the bay under, I think it's very important that I provide you with some backstory of what was going on before i moved. About two weeks prior to me moving to the bay, I was experiencing the throes of a manic episode. During this particular manic episode, I went on a cleaning binge at my apartment I was sharing with two roommates. My two particular roommates never cleaned up behind themselves nor did they ever clean the common spaces. The kitchen floors were covered with filth and I couldn't stand it anymore. I took to cleaning the kitchen floors and trying to organize things. The kitchen looked horrible because there were things everywhere so one of my roommates took photos and video that she later sent to our landlord. The next thing I know, the landlord is at our door telling me to step outside. I took that as a threat and told him I would stick my acrylic nail through his eye. That was when he called the police and I went to jail for terrorist threats. I spent the night in jail and was later bailed out the next day. I kept very quiet about the entire ordeal on social media and made sure to keep the situation off of the internet entirely. I'm now breaking my silence about this horrific act if trans-antagonistic act of horrific violence. After I bailed out of jail, I was transported to a mental hospital where I endured even more transmisogyny and sheer violence at a very anti-black hospital. I was restrained and tied by my wrists and ankles to a gurney and was injected with drugs to knock me out. I later woke up at a psych ward with no recollection of what happened previously. I was mortified. I was later discharged and I made my way home only to find my belongings in the garage as well as the locks being changed to the front doors. My set of keys for the front door were also in the front porch. I was highly irritated about the situation but I just called a friend to help me pack my things and I left. I received a 5 day hotel voucher and stayed there until I could figure things out. I stayed with friends for 2 days until I used the last of my funds to purchase a Greyhound ticket to Oakland. I found affordable housing here in West Oakland and I am beyond ecstatic to call The Bay Area my home. In order for me to secure the housing I've found here, as well as provide my living space with proper furnishings like a bed and a desk, I need for my community to come forth and help me however they can. I've been through hell to get here and I want to make sure I stay here. Aside from donating to my campaign you can also donate to my Venmo: @misserikakayne, Cashapp: $misserikakayne and PayPal/Zelle: [email redacted].
