I have Type 1 diabetes which damaged my kidneys. I now am in Stage 5 kidney disease. I have been approved by my hospital to have my living-donor transplant. Now I have to raise the money for my son Ty Pimienta to be able to be my donor. The money raised will pay for my son's testing and surgical removal of his kidney to be donated to me. Health insurance doesn't cover his portion because it's considered an elective surgery for him. I'm currently not on dialysis as of yet. My doctors want me to have the transplant because I'm healthy enough and young enough(39). That the transplant will be a 100% success. Dialysis is a temporary fix that shortens your life span. With my transplant I'll be able to live out the remainder of my life span. Please, whatever you can give will help tremendously. Also, please consider being a living donor to someone else. The non-living donor wait list is 8-10 years. Most can't hold out that long on dialysis. The living-donor process is 1-2 years. I'm almost 1 year in.
