22nd & R Street House Fire Recovery

Donation protected
On December 13, a devastating fire broke out at 22nd and R Street, resulting in two individuals tragically passing away: Rosa Marie Ross, age 70, and Kareem Londell Swann, age 10. The third victim and family member has been released from the hospital. There was also damage to two of the neighboring homes.

After speaking with neighbors and other houses affected, the funds raised through this campaign will go directly to the Ross family with whatever they need to support them during this period of grief and transition. The impact of this tragedy is still unfolding, and updates will be shared on this page.

Our Richmond and Church Hill community has always come together in times of need, and now is the moment to show our neighbors that they are not alone. We invite friends, neighbors, and anyone who feels moved to help to join in supporting this family. Any support you can give—no matter the amount—will help our neighbors manage after this devastating event.

Thank you all for your contributions, prayers and support as we wrap this family with love during this time.

This is being organized by a group of neighbors that reside on R Street. Please contact Debbie Irwin or Ashley Williams Hillman.
