Two weeks ago, my colleague (Barbara) and her four year old son (Christopher) lost all of their possessions in a fire that wiped out her condominium.

They were lucky to escape with their lives. She ran from a burning condo with her son and cell phone. Literally, she and he were left that night with just the clothes on their back.
We have raised some funds at work, but I am hoping the power of the internet and a friend network will help raise more emergency funds to help get through a very trying time while the insurance company sorts out how to proceed. Any funds raised will be used to buy clothes, foods, and basics. A few dollars from a lot of people would go a long way to help her get back on her feet in the aftermath of this horrific event.
Barbara is a great lady! We became good friends (as well as colleagues) when she began to teach me to white water kayak. In fact, she has saved me a few times by pulling me out of a river.
