We recently welcomed a second child into the family in November, and just a few weeks later, Amanda received her diagnosis. Stage 3, metastatic, aggressive breast cancer… Amanda has some pretty intense treatment she will be going through over the next 4 months, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, surgeries, and radiation treatment, which may leave her very sick some days and unable to care for our two girls on her own.
We are trying to do everything we can in order for me to remain home to help her with any and everything, including bringing her to and from her appointments, keeping the house together, and caring for the girls. Our oldest, Emmi, is diagnosed with stage 2 non-verbal autism, so she requires a lot more of our attention and care than a neuro-typical child, and Amanda is typically the primary caregiver for her while I work to provide for her and the girls. These are shoes I will need to fill for the time being so that she can rest and keep herself as strong as possible.
With me not going to work in order to do these things, we are reluctantly asking for help from the community so that we can cover our usual monthly expenditures over the next few months and some additional health supplements, health foods, and cosmetic items like wigs in the event Amanda loses her hair due to side effects of the treatment. She will be undergoing treatment every Friday for the next 10 weeks and then every other week for an additional 4 treatments, which will bring us to about June 19th of this year. Any and everything helps, and we appreciate the continued outpouring of support from the community, friends, and family throughout these difficult times!
