Alex’s wheelchair van

My name is Alex Dacy and I am a blogger, Instagram influencer, entrepreneur, content creator, and writer who has a physical disability. I’m very passionate about disability advocacy and disabled body representation! I recently moved from Chicago to Florida for health reasons and to build a better life for myself. In Chicago, I was fortunate that I didn’t require my own private van for transportation. Accessible Ubers where everywhere! In Florida, that is not the case. I am completely overcome with gratitude over the support on my Instagram post where I talked about my experience with looking into getting a new wheelchair accessible van. I am humbled that my community is so supportive and always uplifting one another. Many of my followers asked me to make a GoFundMe to support me in funding a new wheelchair accessible van. You might not be aware, but wheelchair accessible vehicles are extremely expensive — ranging anywhere from 30-70,000k+$. Insurance does not fund these vans. My current van has seen better days. It’s 10 years old and has a lot of mileage on it and the door where the wheelchair ramp is, is broken. I took it into the shop for a tune up and was told it’s basically on the verge of breaking down.
