My Dad, Rick Schenker, fell sick around Sept. 1st. All he could do was sleep and move from one bed to another...he tried chiropractors, doctors, and just ran out of money. He used up my wedding account just trying to stay afloat (But I'd rather have my dad than a princess wedding any day). When he couldn't take it anymore, he called Obama Care and was refused because he wasn't making enough money. They referred him to the states medical aid insurance. This is called Medicaid, and it has a condition that if he or my mom makes any income they could lose it. That would be devastating since there is about $250,000 in medical bills already.
My Dad has given his life to things that help others without regard to how much he makes. His most recent project, he gave more than half his income back to the organization, so they could succeed. Of course, they in fact did succeed amazingly because God gives my Dad wisdom and understanding for these types of things. From scratch, that organization went from $0 budget and a very small foot print to over 150 ministries on university campuses around the country and more than a $1.3 million budget. He left that in Feb. 2015 to start another ministry, and just had the business plan done when he fell ill.
Finally on Nov. 13 2015, he went to the hospital with a 5 hour nosebleed. That's when the doctors found out his platelets were only at 13000, and told him he probably had leukemia. It was confirmed in a hospital in Pittsburgh (about 100 miles away) where he will be treated for the next 3 years.
We are raising money for living expenses for the next 6 months to include: rent, utilities, insurance(s), food, travel, and extra things not covered by insurance.
I don't think God is done using my Dad, and know that He has more in store for him. Please help me pay their bills.
