THE GIFT OF EDUCATION
Hello Everybody!
My name is Rickeyna Fields and I am 17 years old. I am currently a junior, going into my senior year at Environmental Charter High School in Lawndale California. ECHS is a College Prep High School. My current GPA is at 3.5. I am working hard everyday to bring it up to a 4.0 or higher. My plan for sure is to attend a 4 year University.
I am campaigning as well saving money on my own to attend a scheduled Historical Black College tour on June 19 - 23, 2016. On this tour, I have the opportunity to attend nine Historically Black Colleges and University Campuses. They are scheduled to visit Morehouse, Hampton, Howard, Clark-Atlanta, Paine, John C. Smith, North Carolina A & T, Bennett and Spelman. In addition to visiting these colleges, I will also have the opportunity to tour such historical places as the Martin Luther King Jr. Center, Dr. King's childhood home and Washington DC sites. Your support will help pay for hotel, food, bus transportation, souvenirs, and round trip airfare.
I found out about the Historical Black College Tour on April 30, 2016 when I attended an Youth Empowerment Conference "Develping Leaders for the 21st Century," hosted by the National Congress of Black Women Inc., LAC. The tour is quickly approaching so I need your support asap!
This trip means everything to me because I am facing one of the most important decisions in my life. Where I will invest my future for the next 4 years. Being able to attend this trip will give me the chance to make an informed decision, and allow me the opportunity to discover what my options are, as well as the benefits of attending a Historical Black College. June 19-23, 2016 will never come again, so I would be thankful to be able to grab hold of this opportunity while it is in front of me.
Thank you for your support and whatever contribution you make is accepted and appreciated!
Sincerely,
Rickeyna Fields
