As many of you know, I have been teaching 6th grade at Martin Luther King Jr. Early College in Denver, CO for the last 2 years. This year, I was able to nominate 10 students to go to a leadership conference in Washington D.C.. One of my students decided to go and take this incredible opportunity, but her family does not have the funds, which is why this campaign for Michelle was started.
The young woman I am trying to raise funds for is one of the most deserving and the least entitled students I have ever had. She gives her best foot forward every day, is kind to everyone and shows a spirit of perseverance that is hard to find among her peers. She has faced hardship with courage and joy and I cannot think of any who more deserves a chance to learn and grow in such a unique way. She truly has inspired me with how she faces life and the joy she consistently has.
The money will be used to fund the conference and her plane ticket to D.C. Please consider investing even a little into this young woman's future. She is heading out this summer, so we are trying to get as much raised before the end of May as possible. Michelle is in the middle of incredible formative years as she develops from a child to a teenager, and giving her tools to develop her mind and spirit as a future leader is not a waste of resources.
