In Memory of my Brother, Brian Roberts, Postie

PLEASE HELP ME TO DO SOMETHING AMAZING TO HELP OTHERS?

I am reaching out to you to ask for your support. My name is Sandra, I work for the NHS.  I am the youngest in the family. I have a mum and a twin brother, with some learning disabilities after being hit by a car, when he was little.  I had another big brother too, Brian, but sadly, earlier this year, not anymore. I am consumed by grief. Each day is so hard without him.  The grief caused by my brother taking his life is unrelenting.  My twin is struggling with the grief so much. He lives far away from us and support is thin on the ground for him. He doesn't understand and the loss is too painful for him to face.  We have no reason why, no answers, no goodbyes. We are broken as a family.

I really want to prove that my brother mattered, so in Brian's memory, I am fundraising for a mental health charity, North East Wales Mind to help others Together we can make a difference to another loved ones life. This cause means so much to me. It is giving me a purpose to go on for the family I have left. With your help, together we can enable more people in distress to reach out for support. Every life matters and people should be valued. It is an uncomfortable topic, suicide, but mental health and suicide needs to be discussed openly, if the stigma, still attached to it, is to be removed once and for all.  It stops people reaching out for help, which takes a lot of courage. Mental illness is a hidden problem and can affect any of us.  Most people don't understand this type of loss unless it has happened to them and society still find it too uncomfortable to talk about, and so heartbreaking losses continue every day. Suicide causes the most intense pain which is with everyone affected, for the rest of their lives. It destroys the family left behind.  It is preventable with the right help. My mum is crushed with pain of the loss and sheds so many tears. She is not the same anymore. We are now a empty family.  We try to hide our pain, but inside nothing is the same.

I don't want anyone to go through this as it is destroying.

  OUR STORY

I lost my brother, Brian, this year. He took his own life, tragically and totally unexpectedly.  He was only 50.  This is one of the worst types of loss.  It shouldn't be something anyone has to go through, especially a mum. The weight of heartache and worry on my mum's shoulders is intense. She feels she is a burden, because of what has happened. Our devastation is massive and nothing will ever be the same again for us. Nothing material in life matters, for us now.

I so WANT to inspire you to donate in my brother's memory, as my brother inspired me during his life.  I am grateful and so proud to have had him in my life.  I wish I could still see him, speak to him and that he was still here.
He was kind, sensitive, generous, talented, loving and caring, but he felt so lonely and unloved in the end and his life wasn't worth anything.  We found this out much too late.

My fundraising for this charity, will also help people left behind who have been affected by a suicide or mental illness, to access support.  I need your help please with this. The sooner we are able to remove the stigma, that is stopping loved ones reaching out for help, the better. It needs to be addressed now, so we don't lose more loved ones. Far more people will be in need of mental health support in this very difficult year.  I am pleading for your help, with anything you can afford to donate.  I know it's a difficult time for everyone at the moment, but you can make a big difference to another loved one.

CHARITYINFO

NORTH EAST WALES MIND, needs donations so they are then able to provide more needed help to others in distress. With more funds, they will be able to expand their provision and resources and then, this will  help more people with their mental health. The donations we achieve, will enable more telephone and face to face meetings, self help material and VITAL SUPPORT, when it is needed. A donation of any amount, will truly help me reach my goal for Brian to leave a legacy, that will help others with their mental health and in helping me with this fundraiser, it will prove that my brother was worth so much more than he thought.  Every human is worth so much more and should not fear reaching out for help. There is no shame in it. It actually takes courage and is not a sign of weakness.

Please will you help me make it better for another loved one. Your donation will help to achieve this.
Thank you so much.
