My name is Jorge Flores and I am a senior at Selma High School. In September of this year, I auditioned for the National American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) Senior Honor Choir. Last year, I was accepted into the Regional Senior Honor Choir of the Western Division of the ACDA. I performed in Pasadena, California with other talented choral students from Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, and Utah. This experience was a life changing event filled with tears and unforgettable experiences. It was then that I set the goal of getting accepted into the National ACDA Senior Honor Choir. In November, I was then notified that I was accepted into the National ACDA Senior Honor Choir! This is a great accomplishment for me! This choir will be performing in Minneapolis, MN from March 8-11, 2017.
As a high school student, it is a challenge to save money and pay for this amazing experience on top of the usual expenses of senior year like senior trips, cap and gown, college applications, etc. I realize that this trip to and from Minneapolis will be expensive with lodging, transportation, and food expenses. I would gladly appreciate your support in my endeavors to raise the necessary amount of funds I need to make this a reality for me. Approximately 4,200 singers from around the nation auditioned to be a part of this 300 person choir, and of those singers, 500 auditioned for the tenor section. Luckily, I was one selected from the large group of those who auditioned.
