Coraline Grace McBride was born on Friday April 29, 2016 at 4:59 am. As many of you know, her parents, Connor and Karissa, were incredibly excited to become parents. As labor started, there were some problems that were noticed from the minute they walked into the hospital. After about 6 hours, Coraline was welcomed into the world via an emergency C-section. Unfortunately, at birth Coraline had a severe lack of oxygen in her blood, which created a snowball effect of other problems. Some of her vital organs were damaged and she became incredibly sick. She was transferred to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Riley Hospital for Children on the day of her birth and as of May 3rd was still in critical, but stable condition. She has taken a lot of baby steps in during her first few days as all of her problems seem to be trending in the healing direction. The machines that she was on at birth to keep her alive are slowly being taken away at a rate that she has tolerated so far. It is still unknown whether there will be any long-lasting effects, but her parents and doctors remain hopeful and optimistic that her body will continue to recover from this unexpected medical event. Her mother and father have been at her bedside through it all and intend to do so until she is ready to go home. Since it is so vital that her parents continue to support her, they will have to take time off work while their out-of-pocket medical bills and normal living expenses continue to accrue. If you would like to help lessen the financial burden on the family you can donate any amount of money that you can. No matter the amount, it will help immensely in the grand scheme of things. Any donations that are unused for living expenses (rent, meals, transportation, etc.) or Coraline’s medical bills will be put in an account created to pay for any future medical expenses that may arise due to the current situation. Updates will be posted as they are given to the parents. Thank you.
