"Initially the idea of asking for help endorsing my recovery made me uncomfortable and I am embarrassed that I have found myself so far into my addiction. I know that I need a great deal of help and want to honor those who offer me their help and support, giving me this opportunity to turn my life around." Matthew Samways
Watching a loved one suffer with depression and anxiety is heartbreaking. Many suffer in silence. Many cope by masking the pain with drugs and compulsive behavior, resulting in harmful consequences. That is the story of our Matthew. For several years I witnessed my son, cycle through the same destructive story.…different plot, different characters and yet, despite his sober intentions, he would eventually relapse leaving him with familiar feelings of shame, guilt, and deep remorse. He has tried very hard to fight the addiction on his own, slay his demons, and live a clean life. He is tired of the cycle and has decided that he needs help, a long term support environment and a radical change in his lifestyle. Matthew has been accepted into the John Volken Academy Program in Surrey, BC. The program is a 2 year therapeutic approach to addiction treatment and recovery. Matthew will use your generous gift to pay his fees, flights and his required supplies. We are so proud of Matthew for having the courage, commitment and love for himself to change his story.
Matthew is not alone. So many of our children, and our families are suffering from addictions. Together we can make the difference.
Please consider sponsoring my son Matthew. With much gratitude and Love…Susan Scharpegge
