It is with much sadness that I announce the passing of our dear friend and coach Gary Downs. Gary passed away on Sunday, May 1st at 2:44am from complications from Diabetes after collapsing in Grand Central Station and being taken to Mount Sinai West Hospital (aka St. Lukes Roosevelt on 58th St and 10th Ave).
The purpose of this page is to raise money for Gary's immediate funeral costs which will be cremation.
We all loved Gary and are shocked and so very sad about his passing. Gary was a dedicated and beloved girls and boys coach throughout the years, a friend and valued member of the PSAL and track community.
A rememberence is being planned for him in the future. Please provide your email address to be included on these details.
On behalf of Marvin Kelemen and everyone who knew Gary, thank you for your contribution for his funeral costs. Any amount collected above the final funeral costs will be dontated to the track program at LaGuardia High School.
