Hi...my name is Debbie and I am Nicole Dussmanns" mom.  We are trying to raise $2000.00 before February 1st for a three day treatment that Nicole desperately needs to get her life back.
In 2007 Nicole crushed both of her arms/hands  in a car wreck that has forever changed her life. The scars healed and with alot of work and grueling hours of physical therapy and surgeries Nicole was able to do what doctors said would never happen. She was able to get all use of one hand/arm and most of the second one.  However this injury turned into something much more serious. In 2008 Nicole was diagnosed with RSD/CRPS ( Complex Regional Pain Syndrome). This is a rare disease that effects less than 200,000 people each year. It is gernerally chronic and last years or in some cases like Nicoles a lifetime as there is no cure.  It sometimes affects one area of the body or like Nicole can affect the entire body.
This disease is dibilitating. It causes horrific pain on the inside and outside the body and because this disease does not show up on CAT S cans or other means of testing it is very hard to diagnose and it often misdiagnosed.
Those of you who know Nicole personally know that she is an amazing young woman and at only 30 years old she is quite the fighter.  She has lots of dreams and goals to acomplish.
Nicole has tried every treatment that is available in the United states(too Many to list here) and we have found only 1 treatment that seems to help her. It is a 2-3 day Ketamine infusion where the doctor actually infuses her body thru IV .Ketamine for those of you who are not familiar is a synthetic compound used in liquis form and is an analgesic drug. Because RSD is a nerve disorder the only way to explain it is that when Nicole is having what they call a flare up the pain is so intense because all of her nerve endings are misfiring and making her feel like she is literally on fire.  The severe pain causes her body to have tremors that cause her entire body to jerk ,inside organs as well as outside. The Ketamine treatment puts her nerves to sleep and basicly once the doctor stops the treatment her nerves are "rebooted".
We have never asked for help financially before however due to a pending divorce and and a future ex that dropped Nicole from his insurance without her knowledge before she was able to get her own insurance she has no insurance.  The 3 day treatment she needs is $600 per day in Atlanta Ga.
Nicole has been very sick this time since Thanksgiving and unable to go back to work. She has been to the emergency room 6 times and a 2 day hospital stay most recently.  Please help Nicole get the treatment she so deperatlely needs so that she can det her life back. Any donations will be helpful.
