My beautiful daughter, Jasha Sanford Ackerman, at 34, is battling breast cancer. She was diagnosed with Stage Three (there are 4 stages) invasive inflammatory carcinoma of the breast in September 2015.

At that time, Jasha and Chris, her partner of many years, had just gotten married, and were adjusting to their new life. Jasha was working at a non-profit organization, and Chris had just started a new, highly stressful job in Human Resources in the medical field. As you can imagine, all of their lives changed dramatically with Jasha's diagnosis.

Because her oncologist calls Jasha's cancer very aggressive, treatment started almost immediately; her first treatment was 8 rounds of chemotherapy. Chemo is brutal, with horrible side effects, and Jasha experienced them all. Even with all of those problems, Jasha stayed optimistic and determined to battle whatever challenge came next.

After chemo, Jasha had mastectomy surgery; unfortunately, there were complications, and she had to have a second surgery. After going through the healing process of those surgeries, she has just begun radiation--5 days a week, for at least 6 weeks, along with rehabilitative physical therapy.

With all of the extras that insurance does not pay for, and the months and months of her treatments, Jasha and her family have used up all of their "rainy day" savings. Many people have asked what they can do to help, and Jasha has certainly appreciated the prayers, good wishes, and love she has received. Now, she needs help with living/treatment expenses.

I have been in awe of the way Jasha has been fighting this disease with her perseverance and indomitable strength; now, we are asking for your financial help in her fight to beat this disease.
