My Students
By the end of the year, I would like my students to have learned all the necessary skills to be successful in the next level. My biggest challenge getting them there is that some students have no interest in learning Spanish. To keep it interesting, I change up my activities frequently.
Some want to learn while there is a group of students who need extra guidance in expanding their curiosity about why in the world they need to learn a foreign language. To keep the class exciting, I change up my activities in order to cater to their attention span. This includes checking for understanding through whiteboards and making posters with an elbow partner.
My Project
I have found that using whiteboards to do the work pulls in students who otherwise might not try to participate. The whiteboard gives them space and the liberty to make mistakes, erase them and learn from them. My students love raising their whiteboards up for me to check their answers. During this time of checking for understanding, the students also help each other and reinforce concepts by copying the writing sentence or conjugating form into their notebook. Students also love to make posters. The problem is that not all of them have markers at home.
This project will make a difference in engaging my students in an everyday language classroom setting.
It will encourage my students to practice Spanish and not be afraid to make mistakes and learn from them.
I teach Spanish I-III. Thank you for being so generous.
