Musical Instruments for Cunae Kids
Donation protected
In honor of Teacher Appreciation Week, I was inspired by one of my favorite Teachers - Ms. Susanne York to start a Go Fund Me Account when she reminded me that not all Teachers are paid, some volunteer their time like the incredible Music Teacher at Cunae. Cunae International School is a private International Baccalaureate World School in The Woodlands, Texas. Ben has attended Cunae for the last 3 years and it has literally changed his life. This year I was thrilled to see that they had expanded their arts program by providing all of their Lower School (Pre-K thru 6th grade) students with Music instruction. The dedicated music teacher, a professional musician, generously VOLUNTEERS her time, energy, and talent to create a vibrant and successful music program.
She borrowed orchestral/symphonic instruments for the children to explore and she helped them make homemade drums which are balloons pulled over cans (as seen in video). She also arranged for a small set of recorders that the students use. A few inexpensive xylophones and maracas complete our instrument collection.
With more instruments, Cunae can expand their music program. The funds will be used to purchase some quality instruments for school use. Since our teacher generously donates her time to this endeavor, we are seeking funding for a few instruments that may include:
Brass - horns
Woodwind - oboe, clarinet, etc.
Stringed instruments - violins, violas, cellos, etc.
Percussion - drums, cymbals, xylophones, chimes, maracas, etc.
The construction of new buildings has made space available to house these important instruments and the kids are eager to make beautiful music.
We would love to purchase instruments in preparation for the 2016-2017 school year! Go Fund me is offering to chip in $100 to help build momentum but we must have 5 campaign donors by May 13, 2016 to qualify.
This year the children enjoyed learning to read a small amount of music and loved performing for their parents. They have made it very clear that they hope to have music again next year. I really want to nurture the excitement that this program has started! I know you understand how important a well-rounded education is and how important MUSIC is to that education. Research shows that students involved in music education programs perform better in other subject areas.
Music education is only a part of a great Arts curriculum. Cunae currently provides year-round visual art instruction to the entire student body (Pre-K thru 12th grade). Cunae would like to expand the Arts Program to include the Performing Arts and now is the perfect time to do it - when the excitement has already begun!
I invite you to support Cunae in their effort to grow the Cunae International School Music Program. You will be providing a valuable opportunity by keeping music education alive!
