Help Samantha See A Specialist Surgeon
Donation protected
This is a hard ask for me. I’ve started writing this a few times, and I don’t even like to talk about my personal health battles, let alone see them in print. I am summoning all of my courage at the moment. Over the past ten years, I’ve gotten pretty sick, but the illness has gained way too much momentum over the past 3 years, and my good days are outnumbered by my bad days. Ten years ago, I had a surgery go very wrong. I was having a routine gallbladder removal, and ended up near death quickly when it was realized I didn’t have gallbladder disease at all, but the organ was wrapped up and being pulled out by another disease, endometriosis. The general surgeon hadn’t dealt with it before, as it’s a specialists field, and things went downhill quickly. After a long and painful recovery, it still took two years for another doctor to make the correct diagnosis as to what went wrong. After an exploratory surgery it was confirmed, but as that doctor wasn’t a specialist either, she wasn’t able to do anything about it while she was in there, as it was way out of her depth. At this point, I needed a specialist, but I was living in Missouri, and the nearest one of few at the time was in NYC. For the past 8 years, the disease has grown. Aside from working through exhaustion every day, I live with constant chest, abdominal and pelvic pain. New symptoms arise almost weekly now, especially if I work as hard as I need to. Before COVID hit, I actually had a specialist appt and health insurance. It was cancelled one week before I had to go in. Soon after, my husbands union work dried up, and the insurance fell off. I have felt completely hopeless until now. The surgeons office reopened, so I’ve investigated my insurance options, and found the best way to continue on my course is to buy the cobra plan, which I have to pay up for now back to March, as well as make a pretty hefty copay. Through this, up until any surgery, I will continue to work, getting pieces out as fast as I can in case I have a long downtime later this summer. This surgeon changes lives. He excises the entire disease from bodies, and gives people their life back. In my case, it will be a life I haven’t even known, because I don’t remember a time where this hasn’t affected me and I’ve lived a completely normal life. I would get to go on to projects I never thought possible, and push out more work than ever. Since I hate asking for things, and resisted this for so long, I wanted to make your donation worth at least a shot at something. A donation of ANY amount will give you a chance to take home absolutely any piece you desire, with any variations that we can dream up to suit you. A donor will be chosen randomly on August 1st. My goal is relatively small, just what I need to cover some of the extra costs arising, without dismantling any part of the business I’ve built so that I can get back to a picked up pace as soon as possible. The smallest donation is valued tremendously. I know we all work hard against great odds, and every dollar is your blood, sweat and tears, too. Once I’m back in full swing, I plan on redistributing every dollar donated among more worthy causes.
