Congratulations class of 2020!!! ⭐️ My name is David Sun and I’m the salutorian from Kankakee High School this year. I just want to take a moment to thank everyone and also ask for help. My family and I have always clashed through my life; last summer, I decided to leave the house due mainly to abuse, but also many other factors. Since then I’ve hopped around houses a couple times, and managed to maintain high standards in school, sports, and at work. Thankfully, I’ve had a great deal of help from not only my friends, but also from teachers, coaches, and other families. My long term friends, Lily Spiese, Christopher Cunnington, Curtis Smith, Linda Guzman, Ben Ramirez and others have kept my life vibrant through all that happened and that’s been happening. My coaches, Vincent Nkanyezi Mkhwanazi, Hugo Hernandez, Pete Bretzlaff, and Bill Tudor, who gave me the opportunity to play a sport I enjoy and created moments I won’t forget. Families, some that knew me and others that didn’t, housed and welcomed me without a second thought. Special thanks to the Stipp family, Elizabeth Stipp, Brian Stipp, and Isaac Stipp, for being so active in my life. Lastly, teachers, Amanda Grace, Shane Foster, and so many others, have changed my life in so many different ways. For this upcoming school year, I’ve committed to Olivet Nazarene University to double major in accounting and business management/administration. Before that, I am in need of help in terms of college cost, after accepting FAFSA loans and receiving a couple scholarships, my goal is to raise about $3,000 for my first year of college.
