Hi,

My name is Aran Murphy and on November 14th, for my brother Christy's 21st birthday, I'd like to run 21km to raise money for Pieta. Pieta is a national Irish charity dedicated to preventing suicide and self -harm.

Suicide is something incredibly close to my heart.

In February 2024, we lost our dad Steven to suicide, and heartbreakingly, in December 2025, we also lost our brother Christy to suicide.

Losing two people we love in such circumstances is something that is impossible to put into words. The impact of suicide reaches far beyond the person we loose, affecting families, friends and communities.

Throughout these horrific times, Pieta were an incredible support to me, they provided a level of care, understanding and support that I will always be grateful for. I want to give something back to an organisation that was there for me when i needed it most.

Christy and dad believed in supporting men's mental health, charities and organisations that work towards suicide prevention. I know Christy would have loved to do something like this himself. So, on what would have been his 21st birthday, I want to do this in his memory and dedicate it to both Christy and our dad.

21 kilometres for Christy. 21 kilometres for Dad. And for everyone who has ever struggled in silence.

If there is one message I want people to take from this, it is that you are never alone. If you're struggling, please don't suffer in silence. There is support available, there are people who want to listen, and there is always someone who wants to help you. Reaching out is not a sign of weakness.

Every donation, no matter how big or small will go towards supporting Pieta and the vital work they do for people and families across Ireland.
