My name is Dorothy Gammel Thrasher. Ted and I are Leo's human parents. Our beautiful Airedale boy was shot with a pellet gun by our neighbor when he escaped, unknown to us, from our completely fenced property in Florida on May 30, 2020. His neck wound damaged his spinal cord. He was admitted on emergency to UF Veterinary School Small Animal Hospital for surgery and remained for 6 days. With no initial prognosis of his chances for recovery, he can now stand with assistance and walked with assistance 20 yards today June 11. We are very hopeful that he will walk again. At the encouragement of many from the Facebook Airedales! Group who want to donate, I have set up this GoFundMe. Our expenses have been $9071 for surgery and hospitalization, $482 for initial visit to local vet, $120 for first outpatient therapy session this week at vet school, $299 for 150 treatments with Assisi Loop, $65 for his wagon for transport. There have been miscellaneous costs for meds and therapy equipment under $100. The neighbor who shot him has contributed $100 to date.
