Hi all! I am truly thankful for the time you are taking to read this page. My name is Armando Recendez and I am a recent graduate from the University of Southern California. If you personally know me, you know how much I love my Doberman Tyson. If you have Instagram, you can find him at “@the.dobie.tyson”. I adopted him in January and have developed a strong emotional attachment ever since. His big paws, goofy smile and clumsy ways make him the sweetest dog ever.
Due to the Covid-19 outbreak, we were not able to host a graduation ceremony to celebrate the achievement of graduating from USC. As a graduation gift, my mom and dad put together some funds to help me send Tyson to a board and training facility to fix his disobedience issues (chewing, nipping , barking, etc.).
Tyson stayed at the facility for 1 month where he was to be under their care and supervision while being fully trained. After a month of anxiously waiting, I finally picked up Tyson from the facility. Immediately after bringing him home, I noticed he was lethargic and barely had energy to play with his favorite squeaky toys. I tried to feed him his favorite snacks and he didn’t even bother to eat them. I notified the trainer that Tyson wasn’t looking well but she assured me it was from stress and change in environment.
The next morning around 7am, I woke up to Tyson shivering and covered in vomit. I immediately took Tyson to an emergency vet hospital and was notified that he had contracted a fatal virus while he was at the training facility. He has been at the hospital for 2 days and is on IV fluids and other bacterial medications that are keeping him alive.
The cost to keep Tyson alive is nearly $3K and the fees are continuously growing. Without the help of the vet, Tyson has a 50% chance of living. Unfortunately, I don’t have the full amount to get him the treatment he deserves to keep him alive and this is why I am in need of help. I have tried reaching out to the training facility to help out with the costs but they are claiming it’s the “recessive alleles in his genes” that caused him to get sick.
I know especially during this time, there has been so much going on around the world and a sick dog may be the least of your worries. All I ask is if you can please help out with anything you can. If you personally know me, you know I always do everything in my power to lend a helping hand when someone is in need. I please ask if you can do the same.
