My name is Dawn, and I have been blessed to find my heart dog in my Roman. I can't imagine my life without him, and can't bear to see him in pain.
Just yesterday, he went out into the yard, running and doing "zoomies", like he usually does. I watched in joy as my newly 8 year old boy expressed his love for life, when he did a tight turn, screamed in pain, and his back end went to the ground. As I ran out to get to him, he got up, holding his left rear leg up, bearing no weight on it since.
I took him to our vet today, and she confirmed my fear that he completely tore his left ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament). She did the "drawer test", to check movement in his knee, which there should be virtually none. His presented as major movement, minimal stability. Confirming why he won't bear weight.
He now needs a surgery called TTA (Tibial Tuberosity Advancement)...to restore stability in his knee, and to eventually be pain free again.
In the meantime, he is on Vetprofen for the inflammation, and Gabapentin for the pain.
I have also included on mine and his behalf, the estimate for surgery, and the visit today, which includes x-rays to rule out any other potential damage.
We need your help. Roman needs your help. Roman knows I would do anything for him, including this......asking for help, even though I hate to do it, at a time when we truly need it. When Roman truly needs it.
We both truly appreciate anything anyone can do to help.
All our heartfelt thanks,
Roman the "Polar Moot", and his mom, Dawn....who loves him with her life❤❤
