Fundraiser for Pavillion & Trail Signage

The Fondes Amandes Community Reforestation Project (FACRP) FACRP has grown over the years to become one of the most resilient, innovative and successful eco-projects in the Caribbean and is widely recognized as a model of sustainable community development in the region. FACRP is a community based non-governmental organization which began in 1982 when the late Tacuma Jaramogi and wife Akilah Jaramogi protect the environment against man-made threat of forest fires. This organization started as a movement of community members working together to eradicate the annual threat of forest fires within the Fondes Amandes watershed. As the organization grew and evolved the FACRP team addressed more environmental challenges facing the community and Trinidad and Tobago. To date, some of these activities includes; reforestation, forest fire prevention, forest fire suppression, organic seedling propagation, implementing surface water management systems, conducting national environmental education and awareness programmes, climate change adaptation and resilience research, facilitating regional and international student exchange programmes and implementing eco-system services as FACRP works towards becoming a sustainable NGO and Social Enterprise.

This campaign seeks to raise fund repair and upgrade FACRP's Bamboo Amphitheatre after the devastating fires of 2019, the first of its kind to reek havoc to our facilities since 1997.  FACRP's volunteer and supporter Josimar decided to celebrate his birthday with a call to action, requesting the support of friends, family, FACRP supporters and fellow environmentalist to support this campaign.Funds raised will be used to repair damages, increase seating capacity, installation of signs for trails and the installation of educational and cultural infographic signs around the Amphitheatre.

The Amphitheatre is used for environmental education lectures, field school exchange programmes and cultural programmes which helps to empowers participants to become custodians of their natural environment. This Amphitheatre previously hosted 120 person after the fires the carrying capacity was reduced to less than 50percent. Since the launch of our environmental education programmes in 1997 FACRP has developed educational workshops for over 100 educational institutions, several youth and community groups, or eco-friendly facilities provides a much needed space as we continue to combat both climate change and manmade threats to the environment.
