Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Strangers:

We are writing to raise emergency medical & financial support funds for Sean Q. King. Sean would be uncomfortable with this fundraiser, because we all know him to be so humble and self-sufficient, but we know that he needs this and we appreciate your discretion every bit as much as your generosity. Odds are that if you’re reading this, you already know Sean and you know how much value he adds to the world. He is a tremendously skilled artist, filmmaker, actor, writer, toy-collector, horror film historian, cereal-enthusiast, grill-master, party host, and loving cat Dad, whose kindness and talents know no bounds. Likely, you know Sean because his passions call him to go out into the world and create with like-minded people, and in the process of collaborating with him or enjoying something he’s made, he endeared himself to you with his charm, his sharp, sarcastic wit, his hard work ethic, thoughtfulness, and prolific ingenuity. Whether shooting gorgeous compositions as a brilliant cinematographer for independent and commercial projects, designing/building creepy prosthetics for horror films, or working in front of the camera as Void from The Ghouligans or as Tommy X from the late 90s public access cult comedy show, The Slack Pack, Sean has given so much of himself to others.


While we could extol his virtues endlessly, Sean needs our help now. He has recently been plagued with genetic renal (Kidney) failure, and while a kidney donor, in their endless grace, charity, and love of Sean, has come forward, he will still have to go on dialysis for a while. Additionally, the nature of his vocation means that no film projects are coming in the foreseeable future, due to the COVID-19 crisis, which has also delayed the transplantation of his donor kidney. The confluence of these professional and medical misfortunes, in the midst of a pandemic, have left Sean at an extremely low point. We are looking to raise funds for him so that he can bridge the gap from now until his recovery from his transplant, and then to the inevitable call for his amazing talents to once again sustain and fulfill him. He has brought so much joy to others. While he would be mortified to know that we’re doing this for him, as humble and self-reliant a person as there ever was, he deserves the very best of things and we need your kindness and generosity to help him through this incredibly rough time in his life.
