21.1km against Dementia

Donation protected
Hi my name’s Jess, and I’m running the Sunny Coast Half Marathon this August.

In January, my lovely mum was diagnosed with dementia — a rare form that currently has no available medication.

For context, it’s the same variation that Bruce Willis was diagnosed with. I don’t mention this lightly — my mum and Bruce have such different symptoms, you wouldn’t even know they share the same disease.

That’s what blew my mind. Dementia isn’t just memory loss — it’s a complex and devastating condition that can affect speech, movement, personality, empathy, coordination… the list goes on.

So here I am, running 21.1km to raise money for something that desperately needs more research, better resources, and stronger support for families like mine.

Any support, big or small, truly means the world.

Thank you for reading!
