21 yo Robert Schlemmers Stroke Fund

Donation protected
Robert Schlemmer is a 21 year old, from New Alexandria, Pennsylvania. He loves hunting, playing with his dogs, riding dirt bikes, and working for a local construction company. Robert has always loved being a part of the lives of his family and friends, and being a role model for younger boys, as an Eagle Scout and then assistant Scout Master for a local scouting troop for a few years.

Unfortunately on Thursday, June 7th, 2018, Robert had a bilateral stroke that resulted in two brain bleeds. He was flown from Westmoreland Hospital to UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh, PA. Once there he was rushed into surgery, removing a piece of his skull to relieve pressure on his brain, and thankfully the surgery was a success. The past two weeks he has been improving a little every day, though he has had set backs (pneumonia , CDIFF), we are hoping for a full recovery. He is not really able to talk or swallow but he has been successful at writing us notes to try and communicate. The doctors are still trying to figure out what caused the stroke in the first place. They are going though all of the options and testing every route but so far have come up empty.

Robert is going to have a long road to recovery. Hopefully he will be moving soon from ICU to a step down unit, then onto rehab, and many follow up appointments. Any donations to help Robert offset the medical bills he will be incurring would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you! - Bob, Judy, Helen & Robert Schlemmer
