Baby EMMA'S Final Expense Fundraiser

Donation protected

Hi..my name is Lisa Macdowell. I dont even know where to begin. The past few days have been so trying for my family and I. Monday afternoon my daughter left work early due to having some stomach pains. She was almost 9 months pregnant, had a scheduled c-section for june 15th, so she attributed it to Braxton Hicks contractions. As she continued to drive, the pains just got stronger and stronger. After driving a little bit longer she decided she needed to pull over. As she was trying to pull over, she noticed a police car on the side of the highway up ahead. She pulled over beeping her horn over and over until the police officer came running to her car. The police officer wasted no time in getting Ashley into his car and rushed her to the hospital. He didnt stop there tho. He drove back to her car on the highway and tried to secure her car so nothing would get stolen. He came across her phone and went thru it to find someone to contact. Of course he went straight to M's for Mom and called me. He explained he was on the side of the highway checking out a disabled vehicle when Ashley came upon him. He said he could tell he had no time to wait for an ambulance so he took her to the hospital himself...radioing ahead to them so they knew to expect her. They performed emergency c-section and Emma was born with complications for both her and mommy. They took Emma to ICU so fast that David, her father, only got to catch a glimpse of his new little precious bundle of joy. Ashley at this point was taken in for emergency surgery. The excruciating pain she was experiencing when she was driving was caused from her uterus completely rupturing..causing her to bleed internally and almost going into shock. The internal bleeding cut off Emmas oxygen supply for almost 7 minutes. If that police officer would not have been there right at that particular moment, and made the decisions he made, Ashley never would have made it to the hospital. They said she would have died in route. They gave both Ashley and Emma blood transfusions due to all the loss in blood. Ashley came out of surgery with a breathing tube and her stomach open. They had to keep her in a medically induced coma until they could close her stomach. They had to wait to see if there was any infection. In the meantime, Emma was getting round the clock care for her very low heart rate and blood pressure. David bounced back and forth btwn Ashley and Emma, trying to be there for both his girls. Sadly, Emma lost her battle. Her tiny heart just stopped. They tried for over an hour to bring her back but that didnt happen. Very heartbreaking for everyone. Ashley, still under so many meds and waiting to go back into surgery, had no idea of the loss of her daughter. They postponed her surgery til later that night so David could tell her. After being told, Ashley wanted to hold her babygirl at least once b4 they took her away. They even went a step further and had the Chaplin come baptize her. My heart aches for my daughter...for David...for my grandchildren who were ecstatic about having a baby sister.  After investigating a little, we found out the name of the officer who helped my daughter on the highway. I wanted to thank him...he truly saved her life. His name....Angel....Angel Cruz. What are the chances of that. Im so grateful.
This fundraiser is being started to try and help David and Ashley with final expenses so that they may give Emma a proper memorial. All of this was so unexpected. Having to worry about finances at a time like this is just too overwhelming. Any donation is full heartedly appreciated and i thank you all for being so supportive during this tragic time.
