We regret to share the unfortunate news that our dearest Katrina Sun tragically died May 31st from severe injury following an accident while driving home on hwy 178. I’m Dary, Cousin to Katrina’s husband Chantra Sun. In hopes of relieving some of the burdens from this traffic accident, I’ve set up this gofundme campaign on his behalf. Katrina was traveling with her husband, Chantra Sun, baby daughter Saya Sun, and niece Joshlyn Tang. Around 12:30 pm, a Chevy Avalanche Truck traveling at freeway speed attempted to bypass the vehicle in front of them by merging to the opposing lane, which resulted in an immediate head-on collision. Two members from the opposing vehicle resulted in a fatality, excluding the driver. Our hearts and prayers go out to their families and loved ones. Katrina was airlifted from the scene of the accident and pronounced dead at the helicopter landing pad, near the hospital. Three-year-old Saya suffered a broken wrist and shoulder, 16-year-old Joslyn suffered a near-paralysis due to a spinal injury and internal bleeding. We are relieved to announce that they are both receiving hospital care and in stable conditions. They are not quite out of the woods yet but we will continue to post updates as new progress continues. Our beloved Katrina is survived by her husband Chantra Sun, 3yr old daughter Saya and 1yr old Jaxston. As you are all aware, there is no possibility of ever preparing for such an unexpected tragedy. As we mourn, we ask that you keep Katrina and our family in your hearts and prayers. Funeral plans are still being arranged, and any updates regarding locations and times will be posted here. We have already had numerous emails, texts and messages from people asking how to help, so this campaign has been created as a way to keep everyone up-to-date with plans, and also offer a place for messages and donations to be left.
