The Fixery - Broken Into And Looted

On Thursday, May 28, at roughly 8:45 PM, the Fixery, a small 40+ year-old watch, clock, and jewelry repair store in the Highland Park neighborhood was vandalized and looted  after the chaos that escalated due to the tragic murder of George Floyd.    The main window was busted through, and the bulk of the merchandise was stolen. The counters were glass and smashed into in order to get in and out as quickly as possible.  Fortunately, none of our customers' repair goods were stolen or destroyed.   My name is Mark, I am the sole employee (27 years) of the Fixery, and, with the owner (his name is also Mark), we have been in the Highland area for more than 4 decades.  My father worked for Mark when I was still a child, and he was gracious enough to hire a troubled son of one of his employees, despite the stories my father had told him about his "problem child".   After being closed due to the Covid-19 stay-at-home order for 2 months and preparing to get back to business despite generating no income that whole time and very little prior to it due to fear keeping people home, this was a major blow to the livelihood of our business.   Sure there's some insurance, but it only covers a fraction of the costs, and it will not help the owner, who hasn't seen a paycheck in months due to the covid-19 pandemic and now this.   The owner is not aware I am doing this, and I would greatly appreciate anything anyone can spare.  The money received will go to repairs of the damages, (whatever the insurance doesn't cover) merchandise replacement, ( I have no clue how much was lost value wise, but almost all of it was taken), and maybe a paycheck or two for a owner who has endured years of sacrificing his well being and income to make sure his employees (or employee these days) has theirs.     Sorry for the drawn-out story, but after being around someone for close to 2/3 your life, you consider them family, not your boss, and when they're hurt so are you.
