Serpa-Opfer Family Fire Recovery Fund

Hello, My name is Dani. I'm starting this GoFundMe to help out a family that has taken me and many of you in as one of their own. I have been Nick's best friend since elementary school. The Serpa-Opfer family home caught fire doing significant damage. Thankfully, everyone made it out safely. However, the home is uninhabitable for the time being, they are looking for long-term housing, and in need of many basic necessities. This is Diana's Facebook post from May 24, 2020: "At approximately 10:30 pm last night, our home caught on fire and was pretty much destroyed. Everyone, including Nugget and Teddy, are safe. We are all overwhelmed with many different emotions... First, we are blessed that the off duty officer, who first saw the fire, stopped to get us all up and out of the house and called 911. He lives in South Park and only drove by our house due to a detour/road closure on Ridge Road. I do not think we would have all survived if it was not for him as we all couldn't leave thru the front door due to quick moving flames on the roof/by the door. We are very very very thankful to all of the Floreffe, Jefferson Hills, Elizabeth and other fire departments and amazing firemen and police officers who responded. (And sorry if we missed anyone.) You all rock! Many thanks to our wonderful neighbors who provided us water, blankets, chairs, help with our dogs and other immediate needs. Lastly, thanks to my sister Darci, niece Devin and MIL/SIL for taking us and the dogs in for the night (divided up). It will be difficult to return to the house and see the damage and destruction during the daylight today. But houses can be rebuilt and we have each other. We were able to retrieve our medication and some belongings. Your prayers will be greatly appreciated!!" Donations will go toward any needs the family has in this difficult time.
