20km van Brussel voor vrouwen en kinderen in Goma, Congo!

Mijn naam is Hannah Heremans en op 25 mei loop ik de 20 km van Brussel voor een prachtig doel: de organisatie AFEDE vzw, die moeders en hun kinderen ondersteunt in Goma, Oost-Congo. In deze regio zijn veel vrouwen het slachtoffer geworden van extreem geweld: ze werden verkracht, raakten zwanger en werden daarna verstoten door hun gemeenschap. Hun kinderen groeien op zonder toekomst, tenzij ze toegang krijgen tot onderwijs.

Daarom wil ik iets doen. Met jouw hulp kunnen we het schoolgeld en schoolmateriaal betalen voor 50 kwetsbare kinderen, zodat ook zij een kans krijgen op een beter leven. AFEDE begeleidt deze kinderen tot hun 18e verjaardag – met zorg, continuïteit en liefde.

Sinds 27 januari is Goma bezet gebied. De families leven er in grote onzekerheid, zonder werk of voedselvoorziening. Vluchten is geen optie: ze hebben geen middelen om elders veiligheid te zoeken. Onderwijs is vaak het enige houvast dat deze kinderen nog hebben.

Elke bijdrage telt. Of je nu 5, 10 of 20 euro steunt, je maakt een écht verschil. Je gift helpt rechtstreeks 50 kinderen en hun moeders om hoop en perspectief te behouden.

My name is Hannah Heremans, and on May 25th I’ll be running the 20 km of Brussels for a beautiful cause: the organization AFEDE vzw, which supports mothers and their children in Goma, Eastern Congo. In this region, many women have been victims of extreme violence: they were raped, became pregnant, and were then rejected by their communities. Their children grow up without a future, unless they get access to education.

That’s why I want to take action. With your help, we can cover the school fees and materials for 50 vulnerable children, so they too have a chance at a better life. AFEDE supports these children until the age of 18, with care, consistency, and love.

Since January 27th, Goma has been under occupation. Families live in deep uncertainty, without work or access to food. Fleeing isn’t an option, they simply don’t have the means to seek safety elsewhere. For many of these children, education is the only hope they have left.
