The Boy Scouts of Stoneham need your help.
For almost 100 years the scouts of Troop 513 have faithfully served this town with countless community service and Eagle Scout projects, and by improving the character, leadership, citizenship, and environmental stewardship of the youth who join.
As you can guess, the pandemic has prevented us from running our one-and-only fundraiser, our free car wash that supports our yearly program. Without proper funding, the financial burden may be a barrier to scouting and hardship for many of the participants.
95% of this program, pre-pandemic, was comprised of scouts visiting local businesses and getting their support for our advertising book. All of the efforts to put this booklet together do not fall within safety guidelines. We still intend to run our free car wash on September 26, 2020, from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm at the Stoneham Middle School. To keep the scouts and our patron’s safe, this will be a no-contact car wash observing all required personal protection standards.
This is why we are going out "virtually" to our community that these scouts support and asking for your assistance in raising the funds needed this year.
Your donation could provide the following to a Stoneham Boy Scout:
· $20 provides all of Scout's awards and badges
· $50 gives Scouts hot chocolate after shoveling out seniors
· $75 buys a new tent
· $100 reserves a site for a camping trip
· $150 pays the annual fee for a Scout
· $500 sends a Scout to summer camp
· $1000 gives a Scout a once in a lifetime canoe trip in Minnesota
100 percent of the money collected will go back into the program to support the scouts. This will include activities, gear, and awards.
The pandemic has already changed the way we scout, but the boys continue to rise to the challenge. The scouts have planned a full year of camping, cooking, hiking, first aid, and other life skills. Some of these activities will lead to full-time professions, some will become lifetime hobbies.
