It has almost been two weeks since Jacob Lovitt was involved in a life threatening accident that has devastated his family, friends, and community. Jacob is known for his sweet smile, genuine heart, and love for life. His personality shines through everything he does. His presence can instantly lift your spirit and brighten the dullest moments. Jacob never meets a stranger and will welcome any and all with open arms. One of his friends recently said, "He is the best person you will ever meet in your life". On Sunday, May 10, 2020, Mother's Day, Jacob was traveling by skateboard to work at Bubba's Seafood House in Orange Beach, Alabama. Little did we know, Jacob would face a life altering tragedy. Jacob was found lying on the ground unconscious in front of Bubba's Seafood House located on Perido Beach Blvd. Fortunately, bystanders (guardian angels) saw him and his skateboard fly into the air. They were able to aid Jacob while he was unresponsive and called 911. EMS immediately life flighted him to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Florida. After being admitted to an Intensive Care Unit in Critical Condition, we received the devastating news that Jacob was fighting for his life. He was placed on a ventilator to help him breathe, had multiple intravenous fluids with medications, and had multiple tests and scans of his brain. Jacob sustained major injuries which include multiple skull fractures with a subarachnoid hemorrhage (BRAIN BLEED), swelling of the brain and head, and multiple lacerations to his leg. Although we are still searching for answers, we are blessed that Jacob is alive. With prayers and continued support, we know that God will pull Jacob through this traumatic situation. We have total confidence that Jacob will recover from this terrible accident. Jacob has a long journey ahead of him. He will require intense rehabilitation for his Traumatic Brain Injury. Our family is humbly asking for help right now. We are trying to aid Jacob so he will have a total recovery and healing process. Currently, Jacob does not qualify for Medicaid and is uninsured. His rehabilitation and therapies will not be covered. We are desperately trying to help Jacob with the financial stress and burden that this tragedy has caused. His housing, utilities, and bills are unable to be maintained. His recovery, healing, and rehabilitation are top priority to get him back to the person we all know and love.
