We Rock The Spectrum Severna Park COVID-19 Impact
Donation protected
Dear friends and families of WRTS - Severna Park,
My name is Austin Melcavage and I am one of the owners of We Rock the Spectrum Kids Gym in Severna Park . As many of you might already know, my partner, Tyler Noland, and I took over ownership of WRTS - Severna Park this past November after the safe haven for so many families suddenly closed in September. When WRTS – Severna Park was seeking a new owner again, I jumped on the opportunity. I have been working toward owning my own business since I was 16 when I discovered my passion for Special Education.
We Rock the Spectrum is an indoor play facility where children of ALL abilities can come to play, socialize, and grow with peers without the fear of being judged. We Rock the Spectrum – Severna Park provides specialized support through dedicated staff who have knowledge and experience working with a wide range of special needs. WRTS is truly a safe haven where parents never have to apologize for the way their child was born.
All of our equipment is geared towards the special needs community and packed with sensory friendly toys that are fun for all! We have become a part of the community and are always here to help support our WRTS Families with any struggles they may be facing. We love seeing these children grow and reach their achievements when they visit WRTS. We consider our customers family.
On March 16th, we, along with the rest of the state and country, were faced with our biggest challenge yet. On this day, Governor Larry Hogan signed an executive order that closed our doors, as well as thousands of other businesses, to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. While this is when we actually closed our doors, the impact of COVID-19 started well before when the first cases were reported in the state of Maryland. At that time, it was rumored that we would be opening back up mid-May, but as we all know, the virus had other plans. As dates continue to be pushed for businesses to resume operation, our situation to continues to grow more detrimental. We are now requesting help from our community and those who support our mission.
After a month of closure, we were beginning to worry. Currently we have not been awarded any assistance from the multiple funding options that are available due to the pandemic. Without any assistance, we are worried that we will never be able to financially recover from such a great loss of revenue due to this extended closure.
This is why we are reaching out to everyone who reads this. We have poured our hearts into this gym and do not want to let our community once again lose such an essential resource, but to do this, we need your help. Please consider donating to our GoFundMe campaign to help us cover our expenses that are continuing to build. Every dollar makes a difference. Everyone is experiencing the financial hardship right now. If you are unable to donate, please, share this post for everyone to see! (Note: We Rock the Spectrum is not a non-profit organization)
Thank you to all of our wonderful community members! We hope everyone is safe, happy, and healthy.
