If you knew Dequita Brent (or Mama Fisher as her students called her), you knew she was passionate about helping first generation college students realize their full potential and was committed to seeing them to and through college.
Dequita inspired her students to be the best they could be, and to not let anything stop them in reaching their dreams. She helped students with college applications, and FAFSA applications. She was often their first call when they got accepted to a college, and she continued to check in with them frequently over their college career, always reminding them that she was their biggest cheerleader.
To honor her giving spirit and passion for education, Dequita’s family would like to donate funds to help future first generation college students. All of the funds raised through this will go directly to helping first generation college students reach their full potential - one of Dequita’s greatest legacies.
