For the Family of James Raybon
Donation protected
Today, May 9, 2020, my dear friend Tonya told me the unbelievable news that her husband James had passed away early this morning. James touched the lives of so many. He brightened many of our days by delivering packages with a smile and a conversation. To some he was a friend, but to Tonya and their four sons, he was their world. The love between Tonya and James was beyond evident, and the pride he had in his four children was uncontainable.
James delivered packages in Sunnyvale for many years. I'm sure almost everyone on his route has a story of how he went above and beyond as a delivery person, learned our children and/or spouse's names, and made us feel special, like he was stopping by to say hello and just happened to also have a package to deliver. James had taken some time off recently as a result of a knee injury. Last week, he had knee replacement surgery. Last night, something went terribly wrong.
James had been on disability while awaiting his knee surgery, which was postponed due to Covid restrictions put in place on elective surgeries. They had recently moved to Tracy and rented a house. James and Tonya have one son in college, one in high school, one in middle school, and a kindergartener.
If you knew James as a member of your family, a friend, a member of your school community, if you worked with him, or if you were one of the people he visited on his route, you know that his only concern right now would be for Tonya, Devin, Brandon, Matthew, and Jacob. Any contributions would be greatly appreciated and will go directly to Tonya, who I have been friends with for many years. Please keep the family in your prayers.
