Hi my name is Dave DeSantis, and I own Legion Pizzeria in Kennesaw Georgia. I have invested everything that I have in the world into opening this business and we are about to lose it because of this Covid situation. I have accumulated over $25,000 in credit card debt living and keeping this business floating and keeping my employees working and getting paid. I am going to end up having to close down this business and take a complete loss. I know my situation is no different than so many out there and if there is somebody who needs help more than I do I would prefer that you help them as opposed to me. I have never asked anyone for anything and I have always gone out of my way to put the power of my pizzerias behind community causes. Honestly, I never thought that I would be the community cause.
What I'm not getting across up to this point is how important this Pizzeria is not just to me but to the Future... Why the future you may ask? Because of the man behind the business. I can promise everyone that the more successful this business becomes the more it will help those who need it. I have become used to living a very Spartan life and I have survived on a take-home pay of just over $380 a week.... I will never be the man that reaps riches from a business... But I come promise you that if I ever had a business that brought in riches it would be used to do an awful lot of good in the world. And there are my employees especially Jess... I absolutely adore my manager and have worked very hard to help develop her and it is unbelievable the effect that she has had on me as a human being as well... Even approaching closure and personal bankruptcy one of the ideas that we are working on is opening our restaurant the last Sunday of every month to feeding hungry people and people who just might not be able to afford to go out and eat pizza with their families.
There are my boys Mason and Zach, both incredibly hard-working young men one trying to get into the Navy as a welder and the other working towards a degree at Kennesaw State... the pizzeria has provided me a place to coach and mentor these young men on the importance of excellence and trying to achieve perfection... It amazes me to see them develop and take responsibility and help run this Pizzeria like they own it... There are my girls Lexi and Savannah... Lexi is studying hard to do mission work and is such a great employee and all around human being honestly... And my Savannah with her smile and laugh. It's a joy to watch her with the customers. Then there are my kids coming back from college that need to work when they come home: Brandon, Ashleigh and Ashlyn.T hese kids are the best!
Legion Pizzeria served as a life boat for my friend and employee Kevin Miller who was laid off from his paralegal position and happened to be one of my customers at the time. He said Dave I really could use a job I've worked in restaurants in my past but never Pizza. He was asked back to work just a few days ago and I miss him but it does so much for me as a person to know that this little pizza shop had a part in helping him get through all this insanity. I consistently do everything that I can to help provide freedom rides to dogs that are destined to be euthanized. We have a special Pizza on the menu that is specifically dedicated to providing funds to try and save at least one dog's life per month. In the past we have done fundraisers for a woman who needed experimental treatment for MS in Mexico... I raised over $3,000 for my friend's daughter who is a nurse that needed a repeat brain surgery... We dedicated an entire day sales in my past business to friends to the forlorn pitbull rescue and also to Trinity equine sanctuary on another day... My biggest fundraiser was for a little girl named Juliette Lyng who needed a bone marrow transplant... I dedicated three days worth of sales from my former Pizzeria I'm not sure exactly but I know that it was thousands and thousands of dollars.
There will never be a time where my Pizzeria is not dedicated to helping others, even right up to this very day. But for me to be on GoFundMe you have to know that I don't know what else to do other than close it and give up a dream or reach out and see if there are some people out there that can help me get through...
