Hello I am starting this go fund me to ask for support my friend Alma, a single mother of two I met in my paralegal course. On May 4 she advised us that her father visiting from the Philippines had suddenly lost his sight and was dizzy, she was rushing him to a doctor. Later in the day we were to find out he has lung cancer and a brain tumour with 6 weeks to live. Here’s a little back story and why I am asking for the public’s help. Alma came to Canada from the Philippines as a caregiver and created a life here for herself. She decided she wanted to improve her skills and become a paralegal, she asked her father to come here from the Philippines to visit and help with the kids while she was in school. Everything seemed to be going well other than a skin rash the doctors were saying was severe eczema. This was from January to April 2020 with no mention of cancer. Then on April 20 her father started coughing up blood they then found the lung tumour. While awaiting proper testing May 4 happened. Almas father wish is to go home to pass. Alma has booked their flights (one way as she is not sure how long she will have to be there) May 16 (a cost of over $4000) with hope the border will open and her dad will hold on. It is my goal that my friends and family and the public will help even with a small donation to help lighten the financial burden. Help her fulfill her dads dream of passing in his home country of the Philippines and her dream of coming back to her country and become a paralegal.
