Hello,
My name is Arvin Carandang. I was born in the Philippines, and have been living in Canada since 2006. I’ve been a Canadian citizen since 2010. I’m a visually impaired athlete based out of London, Ontario.
From 2009 to 2019, I competed in the sport of Goalball for Ontario. I also had the privilege of representing Canada at two international tournaments in 2011 and 2013.
In 2025, I was introduced to competitive blind rock climbing.
My first ever competition took place at Aspire Climbing in Whitby in December of that year. I placed second in that competition.
In February of 2026, I competed in my first ever major competition. The Canadian ParaClimbing Nationals in LaPraire, Quebec. Where I placed fourth.
ParaClimbing competitions are self-funded. I’ve set up this fundraiser to help cover (or offset) the costs of future domestic and international competitions for myself, and my climbing guides (also known as “callers.”)
In 2027, my goal is to join the Canadian ParaClimbing national team to compete in at least one international competition. Specifically a World Climbing Para Series in Manchester, UK (June 2-3), or Los Angeles (September 7-12).
With your support, funds raised will go towards covering (or offsetting) the cost of travel, lodging, registration fees, equipment, and any other expense that may arise during competition.
Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time.
