Greetings!

My name is Chelsea Helena George, and I am a second-year criminology scholar at the illustrious Florida State University. With my education, I strive to one day become a Criminal Defense Attorney in hopes of advocating for people of color who are often misjudged, over-criminalized, and defined by stereotypes rather than their humanity. I am honored to share that I am participating as Contestant #2 in the Miss Black and Old Gold Scholarship Pageant, hosted by the distinguished Iota Delta Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated. This pageant is more than a competition to me — it is a meaningful opportunity to serve, uplift, and advocate for my community.

My platform centers on Black maternal and women's health advocacy, with a focus on medical gaslighting and pain bias against Black women. Too often, Black women's pain is dismissed in medical settings, leading to devastating & preventable outcomes. This work is deeply personal, shaped by my own experiences and inspired by my mother, a Black OB-GYN, motivating me to advocate for compassion, representation, and the protection of Black women.

Through this pageant, I hope to represent our community with grace, purpose, and authenticity, while inspiring future generations of Black women to trust their voices and advocate for their health. All donations from this GoFundMe will be used responsibly to meet the fundraising goals and financial obligations associated with the pageant in April.
