On Friday, November 20, my 64th birthday, I will run the Thirteenth Annual New York Cat Hospital SENIOR CAT RESCUE MARATHON!

And this year, you can join me!

For the past several years, I’ve run a 26.2-mile, cat-shaped route through the streets of Manhattan, with friends and supporters following along live as the “cat” gradually takes shape. Last year, a few determined supporters actually tracked me down along the route and joined me for a few miles.

I loved it! So this year, I’m making it official.

Anyone interested in participating will get a preview of the route and can sign up to join me for a portion of the marathon, whether that’s a mile, a few miles, or whatever suits you. If you’d like to participate, email me at psoboroff at gmail dot com and I’ll send you the route and sign-up information. How fun!

SENIOR CATS remain an underserved and neglected part of the rescue world. Everyone loves the kittens… but senior cats are so often overlooked.

These are the misfits, the forgotten. Cats surrendered simply because they’re old, ill, or no longer wanted. Torn from the only homes they’ve ever known to await probable euthanasia.

But with your help, we can give them a second chance. The rescue advocates we support pull cats from the streets and shelter kill lists, provide needed medical care, and place them in loving foster and forever homes. Together, they’ve saved literally thousands of senior and special-needs cats.

Pictured above (left) is Alex, one such rescue. Alex is a senior, likely in her late teens, pulled from an area shelter along with her sister Leia, both in need of vital medical attention. With proper care and treatment, however, Alex and Leia are now thriving together in a loving forever home.

Over the past 12 years, together we’ve raised nearly half a million dollars for senior cat rescue.

That’s a lot of help for a lot of cats!

Let’s keep it going,

All funds raised will be collected by me and distributed to Frankie’s Feline Fund, CatFixerNY, and Paws Crossed Animal Rescue, all not-for-profit rescue organizations. Funds will be specifically earmarked to help senior and special-needs cats.

Please consider making a donation and sharing this campaign on social media.

Whether you donate, share, follow along, or lace up your sneakers and join me for a few miles, thank you for helping us give these wonderful older cats the second chances they deserve.

With Appreciation,

Dr. Peter H. Soboroff
