At WKGS we remain committed to retaining choices and not compromising on what matters most: exceptional teaching, an inspiring curriculum, and opportunities that allow every student to flourish. We continue to employ highly qualified, dedicated staff and to offer a broad range of subjects so that students can pursue real areas of passion without the narrowing of curriculum seen elsewhere. Doing this uses all of the funding we receive from the Government.
However, like many schools across England, WKGS faces unprecedented financial pressure. According to independent analysis by the School Cuts coalition, WKGS has experienced a real-terms funding reduction of around £900,00 per year since 2010/11. Pay awards that remain unfunded, significant energy cost increases and general inflation mean that core funding simply no longer stretches to the enrichment, opportunities and pastoral support that our students deserve.
This is where the WKGS School & Community Fund makes a vital difference. Your donations support the “extras” that enrich school life: visiting speakers, masterclasses, workshops, specialist curriculum resources, and the small treats and celebrations that reward effort and success. The fund also enables us to respond quickly when students, families, staff or alumni find themselves in unexpected difficulty and have nowhere else to turn.
If you are able to contribute, your support will directly benefit our students and wider WKGS community.
Please also take a look at our 2024/25 School Fund Report to see the real impact your generosity had last year.
Thank you for helping us maintain the exceptional experiences and opportunities that define WKGS.
