2025 World Sprint Duathlon Championships

I am thrilled to share that I have the incredible opportunity to represent Great Britain at the World Sprint Duathlon Championships in Pontevedra, Spain, this coming June. While this is a dream come true, I am facing the challenge of self-funding my participation, as there is no financial support available from the governing bodies of the sport or from my university.

I am seeking your support to help me cover the costs associated with this prestigious event. Your generous contributions will enable me to fully pursue this opportunity and make my dream a reality.

My athletic journey began 12 years ago with the Isle of Wight Athletics Club, while i ran i had always been developing a passion for cycling. In 2017, I transitioned from running to focusing on triathlon, a decision that would shape my future in the sport. However, during the lockdown in 2020, I took a break from triathlon to focus on cycling. I joined the NAUT Cycling Team and spent two years racing, which opened numerous opportunities for me to grow as an athlete.

Since October 2022, I have been working with Darren Cole, my coach from Vectis Academy. Darren’s exceptional guidance has helped me achieve significant improvements in both my swimming, running and cycling abilities, leading me to rediscover my passion for multi-sport events. I can confidently say that without Darren’s coaching and the support of Vectis Academy, I would not be in the position I am today—on the verge of representing my country in a sport I love.

In 2023, I moved to university and joined the RCRFatCreations team based in Chichester. Through this team, I have had the opportunity and support to race at more races and develop further as an athlete.

In September 2023, I set my sights on qualifying for the 2025 Island Games in Orkney for triathlon, but unfortunately, I did not achieve my goal. Following this race, I faced a dip in confidence regarding my racing abilities and was unsure of my next step. I decided to try a duathlon to explore whether it might reignite my competitive spirit. The event I entered was a qualifying race for the World Sprint Duathlon Championships. Despite not focusing on qualification, I placed 2nd in my age group at the qualifying event held at Thruxton Race Circuit, earning myself a place in the World Championships!

To assist with funding, The Garlic Farm Restaurant is kindly hosting a quiz night on February 28th to help raise money for the trip. However, I still need your support to cover remaining expenses, including race entry, kit , travel, and accommodation.

Any contribution, whether personal or from a business, will bring me one step closer to fulfilling this incredible opportunity. Your generosity will not only support my dream but also allow me to represent Great Britain at the highest level. I am truly grateful for any assistance you can offer, and I cannot express enough how much your support means to me.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story, and for considering supporting me on this journey. I appreciate it so much knowing that I have people supporting me and believing in me.

Sincerely,
Billy Williams
