2025 Humberside Vietnam Explorer belt
Donation protected
We are four Explorer Scouts/Network Scouts from Brigg (Humberside Scouts) aged 16-19. We have been chosen to take part in the Humberside Scout County Explorer Belt expedition to Vietnam in the summer of 2025. The Explorer Belt is a challenge of a lifetime. It is a chance to take part in a ten day expedition that brings you a real understanding of a different country, its culture and way of life. There must be a minimum of 50 hours of travelling time over the 10 days by foot, cycle, horse, canoe, boat or dingy. The use of public transport is acceptable.
The aims of the Scout Association Explorer Belt are to show competence in the following areas:
• Navigation Skills
• Expedition cooking
• Lightweight camping
• Language (we are all learning Vietnamese)
• Fitness
• Proficiency in the mode of travel
• Team building
• First Aid
• Budgeting for the challenge
We have agreed and set a budget for the expedition. All income and expenditure will be recorded throughout the event and final accounts produced at the end. We will also be keeping log books as individuals to record places visited, project work undertaken, personal thoughts and community work we carry out. We will each be completing at least ten minor projects during the expedition and at least one major project. A debrief will be held within 24 hours of the end of the challenge and all of us will produce our own individual assessments and presentations for submission after our challenge.
We are budgeting that the journey will have a overall target is £12000. We are currently working hard to fundraise and have planned some fundraising events in our local communities. We are all students who live in North Lincolnshire. We would appreciate absolutely any help with our fundraising including attending out events, offering sponsorship or donating raffle prizes.
